Accommodation and Tourism Product Planning for Peak Seasons

HNN.VN - By hosting the Hue Heritage and International Music Festival 2026 - Hue Wonderverse Music Fest 2026, which is scheduled from August 30 to September 1, alongside the National Day Holiday on September 2, Hue City is expected to witness a surge in tourist arrivals. This may lead to a local ‘fully booked’ situation at certain peak times. Drawing from the experience of the last April 30 - May 1 holiday, the local tourism sector is developing plans to enhance its reception capacity and service quality.

The upcoming National Day Holiday (September 2) spanning for 5 days, from August 29 to September 2, offers a great window for holidaymakers. At the same time, Hue Heritage and International Music Festival 2026 - Hue Wonderverse Music Fest 2026 will take place free of charge from August 30 to September 1, 2026 at Hue Sport Center. The organizing committee expects the festival to attract tens of thousands of tourists, contributing to a surge in tourist flows to Hue.

Lessons from previous major holidays show that peak seasons often cause temporary room shortages in Hue. Many visitors struggled to book accommodation due to the high concentration of tourists in the city center, while providers in other areas with vacant rooms failed to reach incoming guests.

Mr. Vo Hoang Lien Minh, Head of the Tourism Management Division under the Department of Tourism, informed that the city currently has 1,074 accommodation options, with 15,479 rooms and 24,376 beds. Among these are 218 hotels, accounting for 20.3% of the total accommodation facilities, offering 9,150 rooms and 15,025 beds. In addition to the hotel network, the tourism sector and localities have been continuing to review homestays and residential lodgings to ensure effective management and meet the service quality demands for visitors.

Drawing from the experience of the last April 30 - May 1 holiday, the tourism sector continues to propose accommodation distribution solutions. Specifically, the Department of Tourism is collaborating with the Tourism Association, the City Hotel Association, and businesses to monitor and assess the actual occupancy rates of accommodation facilities.

The sector is also establishing groups and information-processing channels on social media to assist tourists in booking rooms, connecting guests with available accommodations, and guiding tour operators toward nearby alternatives if needed. “The tourism sector, along with the People’s Committees of wards and communes, is actively surveying homestays and residential lodgings to build a comprehensive database, making it easier to arrange accommodations for visitors flexibly,” Mr. Minh stated

According to Mr. Ho Dang Xuan Lan, Chairman of Hue Hotel Association and General Director of Parkview Hotel Hue, the association and local businesses are actively tracking and updating information on the number of guests, especially online and early room bookings, along with market trend forecasts. This enables harmonious coordination with the Department of Tourism to manage and support both visitors and accommodation facilities.

Currently, the tourism sector operates a 24/7 hotline (0234.3828288) to receive inquiries, assist with accommodation arrangements, and promptly handle feedback regarding the local tourism environment.

‘Dispersing Tourists’ by Experiences

In addition to reviewing and coordinating accommodation services, the Department of Tourism and the business community are implementing solutions to expand tourism spaces and diversify visitor experiences, thereby easing pressure on heritage sites and urban centers during peak seasons.

According to Mr. Vu Van Chuong, Vice President of the Tourism Association and President of the City Community Tourism Sub-association, tourists’ demand to visit heritage sites and destinations in the core downtown area is inevitable; however, visitor crowds can be partially dispersed by developing tours, routes, products, and services in nearby areas, which are not too far from the center. Typical examples include emerging tourism models in Binh Dien Commune combined with local homestay accommodation and resort services, and Hue Tourism College is collaborating with the City Community Tourism Sub-association to build tourism products in Ru Cha (Hoa Chau Ward).

“For tourist destinations near the city, within a 15 to 20 km radius from the center, visitors can easily travel, which creates both interesting experiences and expands the space for development while reducing overcrowding at a single site,” Mr. Chuong emphasized.

In addition to the above solutions, the tourism sector continues to develop novel products under the ‘one destination - multiple experiences’ model, guiding tourists from the core heritage zone to new and high-potential spaces. These include experiences on Tam Giang Lagoon, beaches, and resorts, as well as mountainous ecotourism featuring streams, waterfalls, and local cultural experiences of ethnic minority communities. The development of tours must be synchronously linked with broad promotional efforts, ensuring visitors can access information and have more options when visiting and experiencing Hue.
