People say that March is the month of the silk-cotton flower, the time when late spring slowly fades. As the blossoms begin to thin out, the sound of cicadas fills streets, signaling the approach of the blazing summer days.

With that deep sense of pride in their homeland, Hue Today Weekly is pleased to introduce to readers a collection of photographs taken by 2 young photographers, Mr. Hoang Anh and Mr. Truong Bui.

From parks to street corners, blossoms have begun to “raise their voice”, heralding the arrival of spring.

While not as large-scale or bustling as many famous flower villages in the North and the South, the flower villages supplying Tet flowers in Hue remain vibrant and deeply imbued with local cultural identity.

The humble eggplant, so familiar on simple family meals, appears here in an entirely unfamiliar form - a delicately beautiful preserves for the Lunar New Year.

As the sun rises higher, we extend our best wishes to the farmers, may their steps be steady and resilient, so that the young rice seedlings soon take root, grow strong and green, and usher in a season of warm and abundant harvest.

In this weekend’s edition, Hue Today Weekly would like to present a collection of photos taken by Anh Le, a photographer, designed to stir the senses of readers near and far with dishes rich in Hue flavors.

Among the approximately 70 traditional villages living on practicing crafts in Hue, the craft of making parasols is a special one.

Hue is beautiful not only because of its many elegant and timeworn architectural works, its airy, green spaces, and its poetic rivers and mountains, but also because within these landscapes, the people of this land are gentle and kind.

And soon, as the rains subside and the spring sunshine returns to warm the budding flower beds or tint the newly rooted young grass in soft golden hues… Hue will once again come alive with vibrant energy.
