More than 59,000 first-year students start the new school year

For first-graders, the day was more than just a normal school day; it marked the first milestone in their educational journey.

At schools including Le Loi, Quang Trung and Vinh Ninh (Thuan Hoa Ward), Dang Van Ngu and Huyen Tran (An Cuu Ward), and Thuy Luong (Huong Thuy Ward), preparations to welcome students were carefully arranged. Cheerful musical performances, colourful classrooms and the warm guidance of teachers helped the pupils quickly join in the excitement of their first day.

After the welcoming activities, first-graders became familiar with their classrooms, teachers and classmates, toured the school grounds and gradually learned the routines of studying in their new environment.

The atmosphere was equally lively at lower and upper high schools. At schools such as Tran Cao Van (Phu Xuan Ward) and Nguyen Chi Dieu (Thuan Hoa Ward), teachers and youth union members arrived early to welcome sixth-graders, help them find their classrooms and settle in. On their first day, the students learned about their schools’ traditions and learning environment, met their teachers and got to know new friends. Many schools also encouraged students to take a more active role from the very first day by finding their classrooms and arranging their own seats, confidently interacting with others and becoming familiar with their new surroundings.

The first day at school is not only the beginning of a new academic year but also a starting point for first-year students to develop confidence, independence and a sense of solidarity. From the initial unfamiliarity, every glance, smile and greeting today will gradually become a cherished memory of their school years.

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, Hue City enrolled 20,466 first-graders, 22,062 sixth-graders and 17,179 tenth-graders for the 2026-2027 academic year.
