The patient, V.V.H.P. (14 years old, residing in Duong No Ward, Hue City), was diagnosed with a malignant mandibular tumor. According to the doctors, the greatest challenge in treatment was not only the complete removal of the tumor, but also the restoration of chewing and speech functions, as well as ensuring the patient’s facial aesthetics in the future.
Prior to surgery, the hospital organized a multidisciplinary consultation involving specialists in maxillofacial surgery, oncology, anesthesiology and resuscitation, and diagnostic imaging.
The surgery was carried out in several critical stages, including complete tumor resection, fibula harvesting for reconstructive surgery, and microsurgical mandibular reconstruction. Notably, the surgical team applied digital technology and 3D printing technology for pre-operative planning.

The use of 3D technology not only enhanced the precision in each reconstructive step, but also helped shorten the duration of surgery, reduce the risk of complications, and optimize postoperative recovery outcomes. This is considered one of the highlights of the case, reflecting the trend toward modernization in medicine and personalized treatment.
Following the surgery, the patient was closely monitored and given intensive care. Currently, the patient’s condition has stabilized and recovered well.
The success of this surgery not only saves the patient’s life and improves the quality of life, but also affirms the professional expertise and the ability to master advanced techniques in maxillofacial surgery by the medical team. It also serves as clear evidence of the effectiveness of multidisciplinary treatment model - an inevitable trend in modern medicine to optimize outcomes for complex cases.
