Nearly 50 patients received surgery for cleft lip and palate

HNN.VN - Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital announced on August 17th that, as part of its international cooperation activities, the university had partnered with the US-based Operation International (OI) and DCA to provide free screening and surgery for patients with cleft lip and palate.

Earlier, on August 16th, a team of OI specialists and the hospital doctors screened more than 60 patients, of whom 46 met the health requirements and were selected for surgery. Notably, the program this time received nearly 20 patients from Laos, demonstrating the far-reaching impact and humanitarian significance of international healthcare cooperation.

On the morning of August 17th, leaders of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and its hospital welcomed the delegation of specialists. Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khoa Hung - Director of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - thanked OI and DCA for their partnership in implementing this meaningful program for patients. He also expressed his hope for further cooperation in medical examination and treatment, training, and the development of healthcare human resources.

In addition to surgical activities, OI also collaborated with the hospital to organize a Continuing Medical Education (CME) course themed ‘Enhancing Nurses Capacity in Comprehensive Care and Emergency Response’ for the hospital’s nursing staff. Taking place from August 17th to 20th, 2026, the course provides healthcare professionals with opportunities to update their knowledge, exchange practical experience, and enhance their professional expertise.
