Hue Central Hospital Affirms Its Position in Advanced Specialized Medicine

In the framework of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, reread the letter from President Ho Chi Minh to the healthcare sector and reviewed the institution’s development journey and notable milestones in recent years. The achievements underscore its role as a leading center of advanced specialized medicine in the Central region and nationwide.

In 2025 alone, the hospital successfully performed 186 kidney transplants, 7 heart transplants, 5 cross-country liver transplants, 22 stem cell transplants, and 14 corneal transplants. To date, it has carried out nearly 2,600 tissue and organ transplants, accounting for about 25% of the nation’s total. The application of the LifePort organ preservation system in kidney transplantation has extended organ preservation time to up to 12 hours, expanding the capacity for organ transport and sharing among regions.

Alongside organ transplantation, several spearhead specialties have continued to expand robustly. The oncology field has received comprehensive investment in advanced radiotherapy techniques, with Hue Central Hospital serving as a pioneer in pediatric radiotherapy under anesthesia. In 2025, 222 pediatric patients were successfully treated with radiotherapy, including 84 cases requiring anesthesia with more than 1,400 safe anesthesia procedures…

The hospital has also prioritized the development of high-quality human resources, improving the working environment, and creating favorable conditions for medical staff to work with confidence and maintain long-term commitment. International cooperation, training, and technology transfer have continued to expand, further enhancing the hospital’s standing within the national healthcare system.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang, acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements of Hue Central Hospital, particularly its pioneering role in organ transplantation, interventional cardiology, and numerous advanced techniques. According to the city leadership, these results not only enhance the quality of healthcare for the public but also affirm the city’s medical standing on the national map, contributing to local socio-economic development. The Vice Chairman affirmed that the City Party Committee and the People’s Committee will continue to support and create favorable conditions for the hospital’s growth, especially the expansion project of Hue Central Hospital’s second campus and the construction of a Proton Radiotherapy Center in 2026.

On this occasion, 3 collectives and 25 individuals from Hue Central Hospital were awarded certificates of merit by the Ministry of Health for their outstanding achievements during the 2023-2024 period. The recognition is seen as a driving force for staff and medical professionals to continue innovating, enhancing professional quality, and advancing toward the goal of building a modern, internationally integrated hospital that serves patients ever more effectively.

On the morning of March 25, Hue Central Hospital announced that it had held a discharge ceremony for a pediatric patient with thalassemia (a hereditary blood disorder) following a successful bone marrow transplant using marrow donated by the patient’s older sister. This is the 15th thalassemia bone marrow transplant performed at the hospital, marking an important step forward in the treatment of genetic hematologic diseases.
