At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung said that Hue currently has 23 FDI projects from Japan, with a total registered capital of more than USD 248 million, with AEON MALL Hue standing out as a highlight. Hue has also received 6 major ODA projects from Japan, with total funding of more than USD 500 million.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung said that Hue is entering a new stage of development, with a direction toward rapid and sustainable growth built on its heritage, culture, and ecology, while accelerating digital transformation, the green economy, and innovation.
The Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum 2026, taking place in Hue from September 5 to 6, is a major diplomatic event, opening up opportunities to connect with Japanese localities, organizations, and businesses.

Hue City wishes to expand scholarship programs, student exchanges, and Japanese-language training, while developing high-quality human resources, thereby strengthening the friendship between the peoples of the two countries. The city pledges to create favorable conditions for Japanese partners to invest and pursue long-term cooperation in Hue.
Ambassador ITO Naoki highly evaluated Hue’s development, the decisive direction of the city’s leaders, and its orientation toward double-digit economic growth, saying that Hue has many favorable conditions for strong development.

The two sides agreed to continue coordinating the implementation of the Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project - Phase 2; promote the ‘Japanese Language Companion’ program; and further cooperate in preserving and promoting the values of Hue’s cultural heritage through cooperation programs with UNESCO.
Both sides expressed their confidence that, building on the strong foundation of cooperation and new opportunities opened up by the Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum 2026, the relations between Hue and Japanese localities, organizations, and businesses will continue to develop more extensively, substantively, and effectively in the coming time.
