The seminar was held as the healthcare sector enters a period of profound transformation driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Digital transformation, big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, the Internet of Things in healthcare, precision medicine, and telehealth platforms… are reshaping the way healthcare services are organized, managed, and delivered. This is not merely a technological shift, but also a fundamental change in hospital management thinking, patient care models, and the professional practices of healthcare workers.
Speaking at the seminar, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, emphasized: “In recent years, the hospital has accelerated digital transformation across multiple areas, from governance and administration to professional activities, with the goal of becoming a smart hospital. Hospital management and laboratory management systems, medical image storage and transmission, electronic medical records, e-prescriptions, cashless payments, online appointment bookings, remote consultations, and tele-training have gradually been integrated and improved.”

Accordingly, connecting data across departments, divisions, and centers helps reduce administrative procedures, shorten waiting times, improve operational effectiveness, and ensure greater continuity in patient care. At Hue Central Hospital, artificial intelligence solutions can be applied across a wide range of specialties and services, from oncology, surgery, and cardiology to diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, and laboratory testing. The hospital views AI as a tool to support healthcare professionals, rather than replace their role.
South Korea is one of the countries with a highly developed high-tech industry and digital healthcare system. Its achievements in building smart hospitals, managing healthcare data, developing digital medical devices, applying artificial intelligence and precision medicine, and providing surgical support offer valuable experiences for Vietnam. The expert presentations and discussions at the seminar were designed to facilitate the exchange of experiences between the two countries across 3 key areas: policy, healthcare practice, and the development of technological businesses.
The program focused on timely and highly practical issues, including the current state of digital transformation in Vietnam’s healthcare sector, South Korea’s vision for developing digital healthcare, AI-assisted cancer patient management, AI-assisted diagnosis of cervical cancer, protein biomarker detection, augmented reality-guided surgery, precision medicine, smart hospital development, and the application of AI in diagnosis and treatment at Hue Central Hospital.
