According to the Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center, the beginning of the year often sees blood shortages as university students are on Tet holiday and many agencies and organizations have yet to resume blood donation activities after the long break. Meanwhile, the demand for blood and platelets to serve emergency care and treatment at hospitals across Hue City and the central region remains consistently high. On average, about 200 units of blood and 25 units of platelets are required each day to meet treatment needs.

The “White Blouse - Red Heart” blood donation program not only helped replenish blood reserves but also spread a message of compassion throughout the community. By 11 a.m. the same day, the Center had received 330 units of blood, including 322 units of whole blood and 8 units of platelets donated by the hospital’s own medical staff. Blood donation activities continued in the afternoon.

In recent years, the movement “A drop of blood given, a life saved” at Hue Central Hospital has been enthusiastically embraced by staff members and union members. As frontline caregivers and treatment providers, medical professionals understand more than anyone the life-saving value of each unit of blood. Many have become exemplary figures in the voluntary blood donation movement, with remarkable donation records of 52, 41, or 40 times.

In recognition of these contributions, both collectives and individuals from the hospital have received numerous certificates of merit from the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization, Vietnam Red Cross Society, and the People’s Committee of Hue City. Notably, the collective of Hue Central Hospital was honored for three consecutive years (2023-2025) with a Certificate of Merit from Vietnam Red Cross Society for outstanding achievements in voluntary blood donation activities.
