Before being admitted to Hue Central Hospital base 2 on June 22, the patient started the disease with symptoms of severe headaches, no limb weakness, and was treated at local hospital for 6 days but the symptoms did not improve; contrarily, she was with increasing headache. At Hue Central Hospital base 2, the patient was diagnosed with encephalitis, meningitis, and was ordered a CT scan. After the consultation, the patient was diagnosed by the doctors: Subarachnoid hemorrhage due to brain aneurysm rupture - a dangerous form of stroke often caused by a rupture of the brain aneurysm.

The patient was immediately admitted to the Stroke Center for brain angiography and emergency intervention. The result was that she had a right aneurysm with a size of 5mm x3mm, aneurysm bended in many segments - an especially dangerous due to a bleeding aneurysm. Thanks to the doctors urgently performing intervention to seal the rupture site and stopping the bleeding, the patient was saved in time. After a 3 day procedure, the patient only had a slight headache, was fully awake, without limb weakness and was prepared to be discharged in the coming days.

According to doctors at Hue Central Hospital, subarachnoid hemorrhage due to a ruptured cerebral aneurysm is a dangerous type of stroke and is often missed because the patient only presents with light headache without extremities weakness. Without timely diagnosis and treatment, patients would die or left paralysed. The mortal rate is very high up to nearly 80% if the aneurysm ruptures again or bleeds. Treatment of aneurysm removal has two basic methods: intravascular intervention or surgical clipping of brain aneurysm.

Stroke Center of Hue Central Hospital is currently one of the Centers mastering advanced medical techniques, from emergency stroke procedure to intervention techniques that could fully treat all types of aneurysm.

In June 2020, Hue Central Hospital’s Stroke Center achieved the Platinum Status of Angels Awards for the quality of stroke care of World Stroke Organization for Centers and Stroke Departments that achieved strict standards in resuscitation and treatment for stroke patients.
