Climate change and increasingly extreme weather events are posing significant challenges to monument preservation. Hue Today Weekend interviewed Mr. Le Cong Son, Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, regarding proactive solutions to mitigate risks to Hue’s heritage.

From early morning, Thuan An Beach in Hue city is already bustling with swimmers, joggers, children playing on the sand and visitors taking photos. On August 3, the Board of Rectors of the University of Sciences, Hue University (HUSC) held a working session with a delegation from the Kyoto Environmental Activities Association (KEAA), Japan, to discuss cooperation orientations in the fields of environment and sustainable development between the two sides.

Many royal decrees, Han-Nom manuscripts, and cadastral records preserved in Hue have suffered gradual deterioration due to the impacts of time and climatic conditions. Restoration and conservation work has therefore become a means of safeguarding these valuable documents, allowing their historical values to continue to be passed down to future generations.

At street level, visitors to Hue are often captivated by the warm smiles of Hue people, the moss-covered tiled roofs, and the gentle corners. Yet from above, Hue reveals another kind of beauty – one that is never overwhelming, but quietly compelling, inviting viewers to linger a little longer through the harmonious and graceful character of this heritage city.

On the night of August 1, the opening ceremony of the 4th ‘Hue Sports Festival’ 2026, a sports festival for community health, was held at Tu Do Stadium.

On August 1st (the 19th day of the sixth lunar month, Year of the Horse), the Executive Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) - Hue City officially opened the Guanyin Festival at the Guanyin Buddhist Spiritual Tourism Center on Tu Tuong Mountain in Thuy Xuan Ward, Hue City. ​

The 2026 National Health Exercise Championship and National Health Exercise Festival officially opened on the morning of July 31 at Canh Buom Sports Arena (100 Pham Van Dong Street). The event is part of Hue Sports Festival 2026 and marks the first time Hue has hosted the national competition.

After more than three weeks, the training program on Hue-Singing (Ca Hue) performance skills for more than 180 music teachers from primary schools across Hue City, organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, concluded on the afternoon of July 31.

On the morning of July 31, at the Southern Women’s Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, the Tran Van Khe Scholarship Foundation held the announcement and award presentation ceremony for the 2026 Tran Van Khe Awards. Notably, the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre was one of only two organizations honored in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the preservation, research, and promotion of Vietnam’s traditional music.
