As “blackened teeth” have faded from daily life, the craft of making tooth-blackening powder, once closely tied to that custom, has also gradually faded away… In Hue, Mr. Dinh Bao An (63 years old, residing on Chi Lang Street) and his wife are the last keepers of the family formula for this powder, a fragment of the memories of Hue smiles in the past.

On the morning of February 5th, Hue City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City held a meeting with representatives of distinguished intellectuals, scholars, scientists, and artists on the occasion of the Spring of Year of the Horse 2026.

According to Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, Huyen Tran Temple Festival for the Spring of Binh Ngo 2026, themed “Honoring the Ancestors - Sacred Imprints of Territorial Expansion”, will be held on the 8th and 9th days of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse (corresponding to February 24-25, 2026) at Huyen Tran Cultural Center (151 Thien Thai Street, An Cuu Ward, Hue City).

On the morning of February 5, at the Secret Affairs Institute - Tam Toa Complex (No. 33 Tong Duy Tan Street, Phu Xuan Ward), Hue Monuments Conservation Center officially opened a thematic exhibition titled “Horses and the Long Ma in Nguyen Dynasty Royal Culture” (Long Ma: dragon-horse), offering the public a culturally rich and profound exhibition space in the early days of Lunar New Year.

On the morning of February 5, a delegation from Salavan Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, led by Comrade Daovong Phonekeo, Member of the Central Committee of Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Secretary of Salavan Provincial Party Committee, visited and extended Tet greetings to the leaders of Hue City.

On the afternoon of February 4, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, held a courtesy reception for a delegation from Champasak Province (Lao People’s Democratic Republic). Hue City People's Committee recently issued Plan No. 66/KH-UBND on February 3, 2026, regarding the implementation of the project “Developing tourism and tourism services for Hue City in 2026”. Notably, the city aims to welcome a total of approximately 7 - 7.5 million visitors in 2026, including 2.3 - 2.5 million international visitors, an increase of nearly 20% compared to 2025.

To share difficulties with people in disadvantaged circumstances on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, on February 4th, Thien Tam Fund of Vingroup, in coordination with Hue Newspaper and Radio, Television, organized the presentation of Tet gifts to poor households in Hue City.

Such is the theme of a special exhibition held by Hue City History Museum to commemorate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3rd, 1930 - February 3rd, 2026) and to celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. The exhibition opens to the public on February 3rd.
