Strengthening cooperation between the University of Sciences and the Kyoto Environmental Activities Association

HNN.VN - On August 3, the Board of Rectors of the University of Sciences, Hue University (HUSC) held a working session with a delegation from the Kyoto Environmental Activities Association (KEAA), Japan, to discuss cooperation orientations in the fields of environment and sustainable development between the two sides.

 The two sides agreed to continue discussions to concretize the content of their cooperation

The KEAA delegation was led by Professor Emeritus Tatsuro Niikawa, Chairman of the KEAA.

Speaking at the working session, Dr. Bui Quang Vu, Vice Rector of the HUSC, emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the HUSC and the KEAA in recent time has laid an important foundation for the two sides to further expand collaboration in training, scientific research, and the implementation of environmental projects, while also strengthening academic connections and community development. The HUSC expressed confidence that close coordination between the two sides would contribute to addressing environmental challenges, and promote sustainable development in Vietnam as well as across the ASEAN region.

Representing the KEAA, Professor Emeritus Tatsuro Niikawa gave an overview of the Project to Support the Development of a Community-Based Waste Reduction and Classification Mechanism, part of JICA’s Grassroots Technical Cooperation Program. The project aims to build a community-based waste management model, helping to raise public awareness and encourage community participation in environmental protection efforts.

The working session marked an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between the HUSC and the KEAA, opening up further opportunities to carry out practical projects in environmental protection and sustainable development, while also enhancing the quality of scientific research and training in the coming time.
