National Health Exercise Championship draws 700 athletes

The National Health Exercise Championship is one of the highlights of Hue Sports Festival 2026

More than 700 athletes aged 42 and above from 24 clubs representing 13 provinces and cities are competing in the event. As the host city, Hue is represented by three teams: the Hue Health Exercise Team, the Thuy Xuan Folk Dance and Dance Sport Team, and the Huong Binh Dance Sport Team.

In the championship category, athletes compete in compulsory routines, including the seven-movement, 56-beat routine, the nine-movement combined exercise routine, short-stick exercises, and optional performances featuring free-hand routines, equipment-based exercises, health dance, and martial arts-based health exercise…

In the festival category, clubs compete in health exercise, martial arts-based health exercise, health folk dance, and artistic performances (including solo, duet and group singing performed to songs celebrating the homeland and the nation)

According to Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, the 2026 National Health Exercise Championship and National Health Exercise Festival holds special significance within the series of events of the fourth Hue Sports Festival. He said the discipline is not only a sport but also a cultural activity and an effective way to improve both physical and mental well-being, helping participants - particularly the elderly - maintain good health and an optimistic outlook, enabling them to continue making meaningful contributions to their communities and society.

The championship will end on August 1.
