Displaying 200 images, artifacts about Agent Orange pain

HNN.VN - On the morning of October 25, the opening ceremony of the exhibition themed “Agent Orange – conscience and justice” took place at the Provincial Museum of History.

The exhibition was held by the Museum of Chemical Arms in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh War Remnants Museum and Thua Thien Hue Museum of History.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Truong Luu, Member of Central Party Committee, Secretary of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Council; Mr. Bui Thanh Ha, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. On the side of Chemistry Command was Major General Ha Van Cu, Chemistry Corps Commander.

The exhibition introduces over 200 images, documents and artifacts related to the Dioxin/Agent Orange Disaster which were separated into 4 parts: Agent Orange Disaster – Agent Orange Pain; Vietnam overcomes the repercussion of chemical warfare; VAVA’s actions and the journey to find justice; examples overcoming difficulties. The exhibition displays chemical bombs, images of lifeless villages, forests, rivers, and people deformed by argent orange repercussion, as well as the beautiful images of victims on the way to overcome the fate; the consideration of the Party, the State, the Army and the domestic and international organizations, and individuals to agent orange victims, etc.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Tien Dung, Director of Cultures and Sport Department said, “For 10 years (from 1961 to 1971), the US military sprayed 80 million liters of chemical toxicants down to Vietnam battlefields, in which, the forests of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phu Loc and Phong Dien districts in Thua Thien Hue are the localities suffering the most damage on human health and ecological environment, especially in Aso area of A Luoi district, etc. Although the war had receded to the past, the pain caused by Dioxin/Agent Orange still has left many mental and material repercussions for many families”

The exhibition clearly expresses the harmful effects of chemical warfare, hence calling social community for joining hands to ease the agent orange pain and supporting the struggle for finding justice of agent orange victims. The exhibition takes place until November 25.
