“I Love Homeland’s Seas and Islands” contest serves as a bridge enabling secondary school students to access and gain deeper insights into local revolutionary traditions, as well as the historical, cultural, and economic values of Vietnam’s seas and islands. Through the contest, students would form noble ideals in life and a spirit of dedication, and raise their awareness and readiness to safeguard the sacred maritime and island sovereignty of the Fatherland. From October to December 2025, the contest was widely organized across seven coastal wards and communes of Hue City, attracting the participation of over 15,000 students. The activities were conducted in a serious and responsible manner, generating strong engagement and broad social impact.

During the final round, 100 outstanding students representing 27 secondary schools across the city took part in the competition, which was conducted in the format of the “Golden Bell Ringing” contest. Going through a series of thought-provoking questions on maritime issues, islands, history…, Vo Toan Minh Thu, a student from Class 8/1 of Vinh Xuan Secondary School in Phu Vang Commune, claimed the first prize of the contest.

Colonel Tran Hong Que, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and Head of the contest’s Organizing Committee, stated that the city-level round contest provided an opportunity for students to interact, learn from one another, and demonstrate their knowledge, confidence, and a heighted sense of responsibility for the seas and islands, as well as their commitment to the cause of national construction and defense. He added that the contest delivered profound educational value, fostering long-lasting awareness, responsibility, and love for the seas and islands among the young generation of Hue City.

On this occasion, the organizing committee also presented awards for propaganda posters and video productions themed “Homeland’s Seas and Islands” to participating students.
