Expanding Cooperation Between Hue and South Korea

On behalf of the city leaders, Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang congratulated Mr. Ha Jungil for his new appointment as the Consul General. He voiced his confidence that the new Consul General’s extensive experience would ensure a successful tenure. It would contribute to reinforcing the Vietnam-South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while promoting cooperation between Korean localities and the Central region of Vietnam, especially Hue City.

Stressing the significance of the traditional friendship, the Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee affirmed that Hue City highly values its cooperation with Korean partners. To date, the city has established friendly relations with various South Korean localities, including Gyeongju, Dongae District (Busan), and Namyangju (Gyeonggi). Furthermore, the city also signed an agreement of cooperation with Chungcheongnam Province in August, 2025.

In terms of economic and investment cooperation, South Korea currently has 17 FDI projects in Hue with a combined registered capital of over USD 61.6 million, primarily in services, garment and textile manufacturing, infrastructure, and information technology. The city has also received 6 Korean ODA-funded projects worth a total of USD 55 million, covering healthcare, urban planning, green transport, and smart tourism. In tourism and cultural cooperation, South Korea remains one of Hue’s key international markets.

To further deepen bilateral cooperation, Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang propose to the Consul General of South Korea in Danang to support 5 priority areas of cooperation, including promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges, together with the application of advanced technologies to heritage conservation linked to Hue Festival; facilitating charter and scheduled commercial flights, beginning with the planned Hue-Busan route in December 2026; effectively implementing the cooperation agreement with Chungcheongnam Province and other potential Korean localities; attracting investment in high-tech industries, smart urban development and logistics; and enhancing cooperation in healthcare, education, human resource development, and technology transfer…

Expressing his admiration for Hue’s rich cultural heritage and strong development potential, Consul General Han Jungil reaffirmed his commitment to closely collaborating with relevant authorities to strengthen information sharing, facilitate Korean businesses’ access to the Hue market, and promote cultural exchanges, thereby fostering a solid foundation for sustainable cooperation.

Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang wished Consul General Han Jungil a successful tenure and reaffirmed that the Hue City administration stands ready to work closely with the Consulate General of South Korea in Danang to turn the agreed areas of cooperation into concrete actions in the coming time.
