Hue heritage presented at CIPA 2025 Symposium in South Korea

HNN.VN - From August 24th to 29th, the CIPA 2025 Symposium took place in Seoul, South Korea, with the theme “Heritage Conservation from Digital Data: From Digital Documentation to Data-Based Heritage Preservation”. This major forum brought together nearly 1.000 experts, researchers, and international organizations in the field of conservation.

The event focused on discussing the increasingly important role of data in preserving cultural heritage in the era of artificial intelligence. Many sessions revolved around the trend of applying digital technology to create and analyse heritage data, thereby opening up new methods of conservation for artifacts, archaeological sites, historical architecture, museums, and cultural landscapes.

Notably, Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC) was invited by the CIPA 2025 Organizing Committee to attend and directly present the paper “3D Scanning and HBIM (Heritage Building Information Modeling) for the Conservation of Hue’s Cultural Heritage at Thai Hoa Palace”. This is the result of cooperation between HMCC, UALS Company (Vietnam), and PoSTMEDIA Company (South Korea), under the framework of a 3D digital scanning and HBIM pilot project for Thai Hoa Palace for the 2023 - 2025 period.

The selection of Hue to share its experience at an international forum demonstrates that Vietnam’s heritage city is among the pioneers in applying digital technology in conservation. The CIPA 2025 Symposium not only reaffirmed the trend of data- and AI-based preservation, but also opened opportunities for Hue heritage to access advanced methods, enhancing management effectiveness and promoting heritage values in the context of digital transformation and international integration.
