After five editions, the VnExpress Marathon Hue has made tangible contributions to the city’s overall development landscape. Its sixth edition (taking place from April 17 to 19) is no exception, promising to provide a strong impetus for Hue’s strategy in developing sports, tourism and socio-economic growth.

The City People's Committee has recently issued Plan No. 188/KH-UBND, dated April 2, 2026 on the development of eco-tourism and community-based tourism for the 2026 - 2027 period.

Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon system in Hue City is the largest brackish water ecosystem in Southeast Asia, stretching 68 km, covering a total water surface area of approximately 216 km2. The area is renowned for its poetic sunsets, rich biodiversity, and serves as a popular destination for eco-tourism, photography, and enjoying local seafood specialties.

As Hue undergoes a strong transformation toward a sustainable heritage - culture - tourism urban model, developing the night-time economy has become a practical necessity. The “Restructuring the Tourism Sector to Meet the Requirements of Becoming a Key Economic Sector” plan, approved under Decision No. 1685/QD-TTg dated December 5th, 2018 by the Prime Minister, has established an important policy framework for the comprehensive renewal of the tourism sector. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with ministries, sectors, and localities, including Hue City, has focused on removing bottlenecks and gradually restructuring tourism products, visitor markets, and the tourism management system…

Recent floods and extreme weather events have severely affected the tourism industry. As a key economic sector, tourism must shift its mindset from passive response to proactive adaptation to enhance resilience against climate change.
