Promoting Cooperation with Indonesia on Heritage, Tourism, and Economic Development

Welcoming the ambassador and his delegation, Chairman Le Tri Thanh welcomed the exchanges and connections between the two sides during the visit. He thanked the ambassador for his interest in Hue and expressed his hope to hear proposals on strengthening cooperation between the city and Indonesian partners.

Ambassador Adam Mulawarman Tugio said the delegation had met with the city’s Investment, Trade and Business Support Promotion Center to explore potential areas of cooperation. During the meeting, he highlighted opportunities for Indonesian businesses to connect with Hue in various sectors such as fisheries, textiles and garments, and food processing. The Ambassador also expressed his hope that the two sides would continue discussions to identify areas of cooperation that align with the strengths of each locality.

In his discussion with the ambassador, Chairman Le Tri Thanh noted that the similarities between Hue and Yogyakarta provide a good basis for the two localities to strengthen the sharing of experience in heritage preservation, restoration, and promotion. Hue also hopes to connect with Indonesian partners to learn more about heritage conservation techniques and technologies, as well as experience in managing and developing green, smart cities.

Regarding economic cooperation, Chairman Le Tri Thanh said Hue has strong potential for developing nearshore fisheries and expressed interest in exploring suitable opportunities for cooperation in this area. In the textile and garment sector, the city is prioritizing projects that apply new technologies, automation, and produce higher-value products. Hue is also interested in learning from Indonesia’s tourism development experience, including the tourism model in Bali.

Chairman Le Tri Thanh expressed his hope that the ambassador would continue to facilitate connections and attract Indonesian localities, businesses, and investors to come to Hue for cooperation opportunities, particularly in tourism and services. Furthermore, he wished that Hue and Indonesia would maintain regular exchanges to gradually identify specific and practical areas of cooperation that align with the needs of both sides.
