On January 17th, Phu Xuan Ward Women’s Union, in coordination with Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Phu Xuan Ward Health Station, organized a program providing free breast cancer screening for 200 female officials, members, and women residing in Phu Xuan Ward. On the morning of July 25, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, held a Continuing Medical Education (CME) course titled “Strengthening Integrated Management of Hypertension, Diabetes, and Stroke Prevention in the Community”; it also donated 2.000 electronic blood pressure monitors to health stations and people in the area.

In addition to his field assignments, Van Thang, a journalist, (from Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, stationed in Hue City and Quang Tri Province) is also known for his philanthropic work that have helped many people in difficult circumstances.
