Beyond a celebration of Hue Beef Noodle, the iconic dish of the Ancient Capital, the Hue - Culinary Capital 2026 program has become a vibrant showcase of culinary excellence from across Vietnam. From Hue’s traditional flavors to regional specialties from every corner of the country, each food stall and every dish tells a story of Vietnam’s rich cultural identity, taking visitors on a journey that awakens all their senses.

Following the Ban Soc Ceremony of the Nguyen Dynasty, held on the very first day of 2026, Hue officially kicked off its year-long Hue Festival celebrations.

Marking the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), Hue plans to present gifts from the State President to over 24,000 people with meritorious service and their families, with total funding reaching nearly VND 7.4 billion.

On May 31 (the 15th day of the fourth lunar month), the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Hue City solemnly held the Grand Vesak Celebration, Buddhist Calendar 2570 at the Executive Board’s headquarters - Tu Dam Pagoda (Thuan Hoa Ward), in the joyful presence of thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people from near and far.

As part of the celebrations for Vesak 2570 (Buddhist Era) and Hue Festival 2026, the Vegetarian Food Festival - Hue Festival 2026 officially opened on the afternoon of May 28th (the 12th day of the fourth lunar month) at the riverside area along the Perfume River. The event is jointly organized by the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hue City and the Organizing Committee of Hue Festival 2026.

On the occasion of the Vesak celebration for Buddhist Era 2570 (2026 CE), on the morning of May 29th, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister, led a delegation representing the Government and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to visit and extend congratulations to the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hue City and Buddhist dignitaries in the locality.

On the morning of May 28 (the 12th day of the fourth lunar month of the Year of the Horse), a delegation of leaders from Hue City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, led by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Head of the City’s National Assembly Delegation, visited and extended greetings to the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the city on the occasion of Vesak 2570 celebrations.

In celebration of the 136th anniversary of the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), on May 18, the Nguyen Chi Thanh Merit Scholarship Fund under the Hue City Association for Promoting Education held a ceremony to award scholarships to students with outstanding achievements in the 2025-2026 National Excellent Student Competition. The award ceremony took place at Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted.

This was the theme of an academic program held in celebration of International Nurses Day on May 12, organized by Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital on May 9.

On the morning of April 11, at Secret Affairs Institute - Tam Toa Complex, Hue Monuments Conservation Center, in coordination with Hue Museum of Royal Antiquities, Hai Ba Trung High School, and Nguyen Hue High School, organized a heritage education program titled “Reforms of Emperor Minh Mang”, in celebration of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21).
