On the morning of January 1, Hue City Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Central Region Airport Authority at Phu Bai International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, and the Vietnam Airlines branch in Hue, along with Pacific Airlines organized a program to welcome the first flight and visitors to Hue City in 2025. Attending the event was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee.

On November 30, 2024, the National Assembly passed the Resolution to establish Hue City under the Central Government from January 1, 2025, and the Resolution on the restructuring of district and commune-level administrative units of Hue City, in the 2023 - 2025 period. Hue City (under Thua Thien Hue Province) will be divided into two districts: Phu Xuan and Thuan Hoa.

Amidst the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of transitioning from the old year to the new year 2025, and celebrating the historic milestone of Hue becoming a centrally-governed municipality, on the evening of December 31, the Hue Festival Organizing Committee, Hue City People's Committee, and Carlsberg Vietnam Co., Ltd. collaborated to host the Countdown - Welcoming New Year 2025 event at the intersection of Vo Nguyen Giap and Van Tien Dung streets.

Renowned as an ancient heritage city, Hue has emerged as a popular destination for both domestic and international filmmakers. Every architectural structure, scenic spot, or landmark in Hue can serve as a backdrop for different genres of films, ranging from feature to short ones. This has more or less contributed to establishing a brand, significantly boosting local tourism.

Drawing from nearly 720 years of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan's heritage, Hue boasts a treasure trove of culinary excellence, offering a competitive advantage for tourism in the ancient capital. Becoming a centrally governed municipality brings Hue new opportunities, and alongside its fresh, vibrant identity, people will think of Hue as a culinary city where quintessence converges.

On December 27th, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with “For Green Future” Foundation (Vingroup), held the 2024 Vietnam ASEAN Eco-schools awards ceremony in Hanoi.

On the afternoon of December 21st, Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Thua Thien Hue hosted a gathering of poetry clubs across the province at its headquarters.

On December 21, at Hai Van Frontier Post (Hai Van Quan) relic, Hue Monuments Conservation Center collaborated with the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City to hold a ceremony announcing the completion of the project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of the Hai Van Frontier Post national relic site.

Achieving the status of a centrally governed municipality brings new opportunities for Hue. A large number of soldiers from the armed forces and young people in Hue City attended the film screenings to watch films and documentaries focused on the themes of the army and soldiers, as part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024).
