On this occasion, the organizers launched the “Design Ideas for Social Housing Models - Towards Sustainable Solutions” contest, sponsored by the Ministry of Construction, chaired by Vietnam Association of Architects, and implemented by Architecture Magazine, with a total prize value up to 1 billion VND. The contest seeks feasible design ideas for model social housing units, with a focus on industrialization, modularization, cost and time efficiency, while ensuring functionality, modernity, and alignment with regional cultural identities.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Dr. Phan Dang Son, architect, Chairman of Vietnam Association of Architects, emphasized: “Young architects will help make Hue greener and more sustainable with their youthful energy, passion, and creativity”. Vice Chairman Hoang Hai Minh of Hue City People’s Committee noted that the theme “Green Journey” is timely, reflects global challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and urbanization, at the same time opens up opportunities to combine green and sustainable architecture with digital technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation in urban development.

The contest is expected to generate innovative and practical ideas to help address today’s social housing challenges. It also provides young architects with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and social responsibility, while promoting green and sustainable architectural thinking. The winning proposals will serve as important references for the future development of social housing models.

With large scale and specialized focus, the festival is not only a celebration of creativity and networking but also a declaration of the aspiration to build green, culturally rich, and sustainable cities for Vietnam’s future.
