Beyond generating a steady income for residents, the vibrant chrysanthemum gardens also pave the way to promote a model of community-based tourism tied to the unique landscape of Tam Giang Lagoon.

On June 4, a delegation from Hue City, led by Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, had a conference to meet with Chinese tourism businesses and investors in Beijing, China. The delegation also had the participation of representatives from Hue City Department of Tourism and Hue Center for Investment Promotion, Trade, and Enterprise Support.

Though in his seventies, Excellent Artist Tran Thao (Phu Xuan, Hue) has never spent a single day without nha nhac (court music). He teaches it in classrooms, passing on his craft in his small house and maintaining a nha nhac club for over three decades now. Every year, he travels to An Giang, carrying with him the “music of the past” to share with others.

On May 27, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, had a working meeting with a delegation from CNN International Commercial, led by Mr. Phil Nelson, CNN’s Executive Vice President, to discuss a media cooperation plan in the period of 2026 - 2030, aimed at promoting the core identity of Hue to the world.

On May 22, the City People’s Committee, in coordination with the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency (LuxDev) and WWF-Vietnam, organized the conference on “Unlocking Green Investment for Nature-based Development in Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon”, with the participation of representatives from Central and local ministries and agencies, international organizations, investment funds, and development partners.

Many residents and visitors coming to Hue have chosen their own unique way to “escape the heat” by heading to the Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon system, where the vast expanse of water and breeze helps ease the oppressive summer heat.

On April 24, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Franch Bolgiani, Cultural Attaché of the French Embassy in Vietnam, Deputy Director of the French Institute in Hanoi, on the occasion of his delegation’s visit and working trip to Hue City.

On the evening of April 3, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang had a meeting with the working delegation from the City of Krems (Krems an der Donau - Republic of Austria), led by Mayor Peter Molnar. Attending the working meeting were Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam Philipp Agathonos and Dr. Heinz Boyer, President of IMC Krems University, along with representatives from relevant departments and agencies of both sides.

Tam Giang - Cau Hai Lagoon system in Hue City is the largest brackish water ecosystem in Southeast Asia, stretching 68 km, covering a total water surface area of approximately 216 km2. The area is renowned for its poetic sunsets, rich biodiversity, and serves as a popular destination for eco-tourism, photography, and enjoying local seafood specialties.

In 2000, in the short piece entitled “Hue Diary,” written when he returned for the first Hue Festival, musician Trinh Cong Son wrote, “When you have a place to return, or to visit from time to time, you are very fortunate. There, you have a river, a mountain, and you can find again your old friends whose hair used to be black has now turned grey. You might suddenly meet a Hue girl on the street and ask her, ‘Is there anything new in Hue now?’ And immediately, or perhaps by chance, she will recite the two lines from a poem by Bui Giang: “Da thua xu Hue bay gio/ Van con nui Ngu ben bo song Huong” (“Yes, sir, Hue now/ Still has Ngu Mount by the Huong river…”)
