At the working session, the two sides discussed the performance of the Hue - Danang Heritage Train service over time and agreed to further develop railway tourism products that make the most of the route’s scenic landscapes, heritage sites, and travel experiences. A major highlight was the proposed introduction of a steam train service on the Hue - Danang route, with trial operations expected to begin in October 2026.
The steam train service is intended to offer visitors novel and unique experiences along the route connecting the two cities, with a focus on the scenic Hai Van Pass. The two sides discussed plans for the journey, including a proposed stop at Hai Van Pass where visitors can explore the area, enjoy the scenery and take photos, adding to the overall experience and appeal of the route.
Building on the success of the Hue - Danang Heritage Train service, Hue City and Vietnam Railways (VNR) agreed to deepen their cooperation in developing and introducing new railway tourism products. The two sides aim to gradually develop a railway tourism ecosystem that combines heritage, scenic landscapes, leisure travel, medical tourism and wellness, contributing to diversifying tourism offerings, enhancing Hue’s appeal as a destination, and strengthening connections among its tourism services.
