Luxembourg funds Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change project in Thua Thien Hue Province

HNN.VN - On March 26, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao approved the investment project "Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change in Thua Thien Hue" funded by Luxembourg Energy and Climate Fund – Luxembourg’s Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure.

The project aims to strengthen adaptation and resilience ability to risks and disasters related to climate change in coastal communes. In the photo:  Coastal erosion at Phu Thuan – Phu Vang

The project is carried out at 29 communes of Quang Dien, Phu Vang, Phu Loc suburban districts to enhance awareness, knowledge and adaptive capacity; to expand education on environment in primary and secondary schools in the provincial area; to support the establishment of a monitoring system appropriate and ready to directly approach the main finance source for the climate change sector.

The project also implements infrastructures adapting to climate change in the project area; strengthens the methods of management, use and conservation of natural resources with the participation of related community, organizations and localities; supports market development for organic farming products.

The total implementation expenditure is about 2.3 million Euros (nearly VND 55.5 billion); in which non-refundable capital is 2 million Euros, corresponding capital from the provincial budget is 300.000 Euros.
