Discussing solutions to address climate change and non-communicable diseases

HNN.VN - On the morning of August 29, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of the city, in coordination with the Department of Health, Hue Central Hospital, and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, held a national scientific conference themed ‘Climate Change and Non-Communicable Diseases: Issues and Solutions’.

The conference was attended by Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Ha Van Tuan, along with more than 60 scientists and representatives from relevant agencies. The conference served as a forum for experts and scientists to discuss and analyze the effects of climate change and environmental pollution on human health, particularly the growing risk of non-communicable diseases.

At the conference, the delegates focused on clarifying the links between climate change, environmental pollution, and non-communicable diseases. Discussions covered several common disease groups, including respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and mental health conditions.

One of the notable highlights discussed at the conference was a proposed six-step response framework, aimed at proactively preventing and mitigating the impacts of climate change on people living with non-communicable diseases.

The national scientific conference themed ‘Climate Change and Non-Communicable Diseases: Issues and Solutions’ contributed to raising awareness of the relationship between the environment, climate, and health, while promoting coordination among the health sector, authorities, and the community in protecting public health.
