Strengthening climate change resilience and adaptation capacity of urban areas in Central Vietnam
HNN.VN - On May 15, the Sub-department of Irrigation and Climate Change under the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Vietnam, launched the project “Strengthening climate change resilience and adaptation capacity of urban areas in Central Vietnam”. The project is funded by the CRS (the USA).

The project is one of the activities in response to the National Week for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control 2026 (from May 15 to 22) organized by Hue City, under the theme: “Community joins hands in natural disaster prevention and control”.
According to the plan, the project will be implemented in Hoa Chau Ward, Hue City over a four-year period, and divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 will run from May to September 2026, while Phase 2 is expected to be carried out from the fourth quarter of 2026 to September 2029.
During each phase, the project will focus on assessing the current status of the early warning system as a basis for supporting the implementation of a multi-hazard early warning system; reviewing and updating community-based disaster risk management guidelines; and surveying financial resources for disaster risk management activities.
Within the framework of the project, the CRS in Vietnam is expected to support residents in low-lying areas of Hoa Chau Ward in building or repairing between 10 and 20 houses that meet storm-and-flood-resilient standards, thereby enhancing resilience and adaptation capacity to natural disasters and the impacts of climate change.
