Attending the event were Standing Committee members of the City Party Committee: Nguyen Chi Tai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City; Nguyen Thi Ai Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City; and Phan Thien Dinh, Secretary of the Thuan Hoa District Party Committee, among others.

During the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Khe Chon, Vice President of the VBS Executive Council and Head of the VBS Hue City Chapter, also Head of the Organizing Committee, read the Vesak 2569 message from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Most Venerable Thich Hue Phuoc, Standing Member of the VBS Executive Council and Permanent Vice Head of the VBS Hue City Chapter, delivered the Vesak address from the Chairman of the VBS Executive Council.

The message and speech called on all Buddhists around the world to diligently cultivate their practice, spread compassion to all beings, and illuminate the world with the light of loving-kindness and wisdom. It emphasized unity, harmony, and active engagement in building a truly peaceful and happy world, placing humanity at the center, upholding dignity, and ensuring no one is left behind on the path of sustainable development.

In the sacred atmosphere of Vesak season, delegates, monks, nuns, and laypeople solemnly commemorated the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha. Rituals such as incense offering, merit dedication, and prayers were performed, expressing the collective hope for national prosperity, global peace, the well-being of all beings, and a turn of human hearts toward goodness.

Vesak is time to reaffirm the spirit “Buddhism always accompanies the nation”

The 2025 Vesak Celebration is not only a time for Buddhists to commemorate the three great events in the life of the Buddha: his Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing into Nirvana, but also a global spiritual-cultural festival that brings humanity together around the universal values of Buddhist wisdom: compassion, insight, and peace for today’s world.

This year’s celebration in Hue is particularly meaningful, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025). It also follows the successful organization of the 2025 United Nations Day of Vesak in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is an occasion for the Buddhist community and the public to rekindle the light of wisdom, nurture compassion, and connect people through love and understanding. It is a time to reaffirm the spirit that “Buddhism always accompanies the nation,” contributing to the strengthening of national solidarity and the building of a compassionate, civilized, and progressive society.
