Flower boat parade to celebrate Vesak Day
HNN.VN - On the evening of May 20, the Provincial Executive Board of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Vesak 2568 Organization Board held the opening ceremony of flower boat parade. After the opening ceremony, the flower boats will parade on the Huong River. This is one of the important activities within the framework of the Vesak Week 2568.

32 flower boats gathered in front of the wharf at Le Loi Park, the area in front of Hai Ba Trung High School. After the departure ceremony, the flower boats went straight to Phu Xuan Bridge, through Trang Tien Bridge to Dap Da, turned right past Dong Ba Market, and went to Thien Mu Pagoda on the right side of the Huong River, then travelled through Truong Tien Bridge, Phu Xuan Bridge, and Da Vien Bridge towards Nguyen Hoang Bridge, which is under construction. The boats turned left and returned to Da Vien Bridge. The flower boats paraded 3 rounds and then dispersed to find suitable anchorages.
The purpose of the flower boat parade is not only to offer offerings to the Buddha, but also to convey the Buddha's message of wisdom and compassion to all monks and nuns, Buddhists, and those who love Buddhism.
Each flower boat is decorated beautifully and solemnly, carrying different messages, but all expressing deep respect towards the birthday of the Buddha Shakyamuni.

Following the opening ceremony and parade on the evening of May 20, the 32 flower boats will continue to parade along the predetermined route on the afternoon of May 21 and the evening of May 22.
