Lotus lanterns adorn the Huong River

Previously, the seven lotus lanterns were launched onto the Huong River. Each lotus has a diameter of 7.6 meters, is nearly 4 meters high, and weighs 300 kilograms. The seven lotus lanterns on the Huong River first appeared at the United Nations Vesak Celebration in 2008, as an idea, implementation, and offering by young monks and nuns in the Ancient Capital. Over the past 17 years, these seven giant lotus blossoms have been maintained and present onto the Huong River, becoming a tradition signaling the Vesak season.
