Optimizing treatment of internal medicine

HNN.VN - This was the topic of a national internal medicine scientific conference, which was organized by Hue Central Hospital in collaboration with the Vietnam Internal Medicine Association on October 5.

Approximately 220 research papers covering various medical specialties such as Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Intensive Care, Endocrine - Diabetes - Metabolic Disorders, Stroke, Respiratory, Digestive, and Diagnostic Imaging, etc., were presented at the conference. These papers were contributed by hospitals, specialized universities, and professional associations from across the country.

Some topics provide new information, demonstrating the diversity and meeting new trends in medical treatment in the field of internal medicine, including: “Application of AI & IoT in improving the quality of image diagnosis, in digestive endoscopy”; “Application of artificial intelligence in medicine and sleep medicine”; “Application of new technology in treatment and patient care practice”; and “The role of vaccines and vaccine production technology in disease prevention”, etc.

In addition, there were report sessions for nurses and English-language report sessions for young doctors. Through these sessions, the latest advancements in internal medicine were updated, helping to improve the quality of patient care and treatment.

The conference also organized three CME sessions on comprehensive management of diabetes, stroke and musculoskeletal diseases; managing significant cardiovascular conditions in primary healthcare settings; and respiratory function test and bronchoscopy, conducted by experts from Japan and Vietnam. Besides, the Journal of Clinical Medicine - Hue Central Hospital, with nearly 20 quality research papers, was also published to mark this event.

7-year-old patient successfully receives bone marrow transplant, no longer dependent on blood transfusions

On the morning of March 25, Hue Central Hospital announced that it had held a discharge ceremony for a pediatric patient with thalassemia (a hereditary blood disorder) following a successful bone marrow transplant using marrow donated by the patient’s older sister. This is the 15th thalassemia bone marrow transplant performed at the hospital, marking an important step forward in the treatment of genetic hematologic diseases.
