Nguyen Thi Thao Linh, a third-year student majoring in Crop Science at the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, shared that she had completed nearly 2 months of internship in Germany. Linh described the working environment in this country as dynamic and professional, providing students with strong motivation throughout their hands-on internship experiences.
To work effectively, students should possess good communication skills in English or German, while also maintaining good health and trying hard to nurture a passion for their chosen field.
It’s known that during their internship in Germany, students are provided with various support benefits, including free health insurance, and private accommodation equipped with shared living areas such as kitchens and essential amenities. Furthermore, transportation is arranged regularly for shopping trips, along with food supplies are provided twice a week.
In terms of professional training, students are given access to the company’s software systems for information processing and data entry. They are also instructed in cultivation techniques, farm operations, and the collection of materials for their internship reports.
Although participating only as interns, students still receive an average wage of nearly EUR 13 per hour from German companies. Entering their final year, Linh and many students from Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry under Hue University will continue to enroll in the program, with some considering long-term career opportunities in Germany after graduation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Van, Vice Rector of the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, said that developed countries, particularly Germany, are facing a shortage of professionally trained workers in the agricultural sector. As a result, the university’s graduates can get employment prospects not only in Vietnam but also in developed countries such as Germany, Denmark, Israel, and Japan…
The international job market presents significant advantages, including attractive salaries (e.g, Germany offers an average salary of around EUR 2,500 to 3,000 per month), professional working conditions, comprehensive welfare benefits, and prospects for long-term settlement.
To access these attractive working benefits, students are required to build a strong foundation in professional expertise, practical skills, communication skills in English or German, and physical fitness. In terms of the university, the University of Agriculture and Forestry has collaborated with numerous partners and organizations to implement short-term internship programs, where students are provided with support for accommodation, travel expenses, and allowances.
At present, academic disciplines offering strong opportunities for internships and employment prospects in Germany include Crop Science, High-tech Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Food Technology, Food Hygiene and Safety Assurance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Mechatronics Engineering…
In late April, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, held a working session with ICO International Joint Stock Company to strengthen cooperation in training, career orientation, and employment connections for students. A key focus of the meeting was discussions on employment opportunities in Germany under the 18B visa program, opening pathways for graduates to work in an international working environment with stable income and long-term career prospects.
From their early years at university, students are provided with career orientation, German language training, professional skills development, and preparation for adapting to global corporate environments. Additionally, paid internships and field training programs at foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam enable students to gain practical experience at an early stage.
