Evaluating the effectiveness of iPLAY - Learning through Playing project

HNN.VN - On March 12, the Department of Education and Training in collaboration with VVOB (the Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance, Kingdom of Belgium) conducted a survey and evaluation of the iPLAY - Learning through Playing project in Hue City.

To evaluate the suitability, impact effectiveness, and scalability of the iPLAY - Learning through Playing project, the VVOB conducted field surveys at Sia Town Primary School No. 1 (Quang Dien) and Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School (Thuan Hoa District).

The team observed lessons integrating learning through playing, held discussions with teachers, and interviewed the school leaders and representatives from the Department of Education and Training regarding the approach and feasibility of implementing the integration of “Learning through Playing” in the locality. They also discussed the advantages and challenges of implementing “Learning through Playing”, and proposed recommendations for the VVOB to continue similar projects in the future.

The iPLAY project, integrating “Learning through Playing” activities at the primary level, has been implemented by the Department of Teachers and Education Administrators, the Department of Primary Education in collaboration with the VVOB in Vietnam from 2019 to the present. The project aims to create a favorable environment, support and sustain the application of “Learning through Playing”, thereby enhancing the learning effectiveness for primary school students.

The project has focused on integrating “Learning through Playing” methods into the current teacher training system and in-school professional development programs for primary schools’ administrators and teachers. Administrators and teachers participate in iPLAY project’s training courses as part of their annual professional development program. Each activity of the iPLAY project contributes to the effective implementation of the new general education program.
