“Compassion Bus” Takes 120 Patients Home for Lunar New Year

HNN.VN - On the morning of February 11, Hue Central Hospital organized the “Compassion Bus” program, providing transportation support for underprivileged patients undergoing treatment at the hospital to return home and celebrate the Lunar New Year with their families.

The “Compassion Bus” program runs over 3 days, from February 11 to 13, 2026 (the 24th to 26th days of the lunar December), with departures from both campuses of Hue Central Hospital. At Campus 1 (16 Le Loi Street, Hue City), buses depart at 7:00 a.m., while at Campus 2 (Phong Thai Ward, Hue City), departures are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Over 400 patients and their family members are supported to return home under the program. On the morning of February 11 alone, 120 patients and their relatives from the 2 campuses set off on their journeys, filled with emotion and anticipation for a long-awaited family reunion.

The buses transport patients to the central bus station and designated stops along National Highway 1A, passing through Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai provinces and cities. Beneficiaries include critically ill and underprivileged patients receiving treatment at the hospital’s clinical departments and centers. Priority is given to patients from the Oncology Center, Cardiovascular Center, Intensive Care Unit, Stroke Unit, Pediatric Oncology Department ,and Clinical Hematology Department.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, Director of Hue Central Hospital, emphasized that Lunar New Year holds a deeply sacred significance for every Vietnamese. For patients undergoing long-term treatment, the longing to return home and reunite with their families becomes even more profound. He noted that organizing the “Compassion Bus” not only eases financial and travel burdens for patients but also delivers meaningful spiritual support, offering renewed strength and encouragement as they continue their treatment and recovery journey.

Each departing bus marks a heartfelt journey home, carrying with it compassion, companionship, and the warm affection of Hue Central Hospital’s medical staff for their patients as Lunar New Year approaches.
