Mobilizing Social Resources to Enhance Operating Conditions for Hue Brass Band

HNN.VN - On the afternoon of June 30, the Hue Brass Band Club held its founding congress for the 2026 -2031 term, marking a significant milestone in consolidating its organizational structure after over 5 years of operation. It also aims to further develop the club as a distinctive cultural institution, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Hue’s brass band musical heritage.

Hue Brass Band Club eyes sustainable development in the new term

The Hue Brass Band Club was founded in late 2020. On January 1, 2021, the sound of Hue’s brass band music returned to the historic Bandstand on the bank of the Perfume River after an absence of 75 years. The club initially comprised 50 members, including 40 brass and wind instrumentalists. It operated as a non-profit organization supported through social funding.

During its first term, the club presented over 80 performances for residents and visitors at the Bandstand, while also taking part in numerous editions of Hue Festival, street festivals, artistic programs, televised performances, political and cultural events, and a wide range of community activities. In 2024, the club was invited to perform at an incense-offering ceremony at Kim Lien Special National Relic Site in Nghe An Province, as well as at various cultural exchange programs in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Tri, and Ha Tinh.

The congress also acknowledged several challenges in its operations, including limited financial resources, a shortage of musical instruments, deteriorating performance costumes, and a declining number of musicians, as many senior members have either retired from performing or been reassigned to other positions. Attracting a younger generation of musicians also remains a significant challenge.

During the 2026 - 2031 term, the club aims to strengthen its organizational structure, expand its membership, and mobilize social resources to improve its operating conditions. In addition to maintaining its regular performances, the club will actively participate in cultural and political events to gradually establish the Hue Brass Band as a distinctive feature of the city’s cultural life.
