In just one passionate and tireless week of creativity, the artists produced a collection of thousands of photo files about Hue City |
More than a week of participation in the 3rd Vietnam International Photography Festival 2025 in Hue; Hue has become an unforgettable memory for 30 photographers from both Vietnam and abroad. Under the scorching sun of late May, these photographers quite literally ventured into forests and out to the sea to capture the most impressive and satisfying shots.
They departed at dawn and returned after nightfall, setting foot in famous locations to create their work. Besides the heritage system within the Complex of Hue Monuments, they visited Quang Loi Lagoon, Bao La bamboo weaving village (Dan Dien commune), and traveled up to A Luoi to experience traditional crafts and everyday life. At night, they immersed themselves in the urban life of Hue, exploring Dong Ba Market, Truong Tien Bridge, and Bao Vinh ancient town to capture their own unique perspectives.
For many international photographers, this trip to Hue was an opportunity to immerse themselves in the famed beauty of this former capital, rich in Vietnamese cultural and historical heritage. After days of wandering and photographing, Japanese photographer Masaki described Hue as a city steeped in cultural and historical depth. Walking through Hue reminded him of Kyoto - the cradle of traditional values in Japan.
"I want to use photography to spread Hue’s beauty to the world. I also hope to continue contributing, even just a little, to the development of Vietnamese photography," Masaki shared.
Moreover, Masaki was deeply impressed and inspired by the passion, creativity, and enthusiasm of Vietnamese photographers during the festival. This cultural exchange helped create photographs with unique and innovative expressions.
Meanwhile, the Singaporean photographer Low Eng Siang Eugen found his time immersed in Hue's creative atmosphere unforgettable in his career. To him, Hue is a city of gentle, profound, and enchanting beauty. Arriving here, allowing himself to be swept away by peaceful moments of daily life, and being able to live and create in such an artistic space was a great honor.
Low Eng Siang Eugen said that the most valuable part of the trip was not just the beautiful photos or memorable experiences, but the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow enthusiasts who deeply appreciate life’s beauty through the lens. “Being part of Vietnam’s photography community - where my love for photography has grown and blossomed - has been incredibly emotional and pride-inducing. I’m grateful to be among like-minded souls who understand that photography isn’t just an art but also a way to listen, share, and touch the human heart,” he expressed.
“Every photo taken in Hue today is a gift to the future and will become a fragment of tomorrow’s memories”. Low Eng Siang Eugen believes and hopes that the photos they have created together in Hue will help spread the charm of this land, so that more and more people will come to know, love, and return to Hue as a place to feel, to live, and to remember.
According to Mr. Ma The Anh, Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), this was the first time international photographers participated in the exchange and creative activities of the Vietnam International Photography Festival.
In just one week of passionate creation, regardless of fatigue, the artists compiled a collection of thousands of photo files about Hue City. Each image is not only a piece of art but also a message of love for nature, people, and cultural heritage.
Following this photography exchange in Hue, the artists will submit their works for competition, and many outstanding pieces will be selected for display and even awarded at the “Vietnam Through the Lens of International Photographers” exhibition (3rd edition), held in Hue in early September this year.
