In his opening speech, Dr. Vo Quang Phat, acting Rector of the University of Arts, affirmed that Hue, a land of world cultural heritage, is an ideal setting for domestic and international artists to gather and reinterpret the beauty of heritage through the lens of contemporary art.

The exhibition showcases 80 works, with diverse materials and forms, including lacquer, acrylic, sculpture, and mixed media, etc., reflecting the creativity and the intersection of tradition and modernity.

Notable works include: “Remaining Vitality” by Professor Amrit Chusuwan (Thailand), which explores the transformation of art over time; “Intercultural Communication” by Keisuke Kawahara (Japan), which combines traditional metal and plaster; “Salute for Peace” by Kim Deuk Jin (the Republic of Korea), which conveys a wish for peace; “Continuing the Flag-Throwing Tradition” by Kongkham Vantheuangs (Laos), which re-enacts a religious ritual; or “Fragrance of Time” by Dang Thi Thu An, a Vietnamese artist, which evokes memories of the traditional ao dai and Hue Imperial City.

During the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented certificates to the international artists, guest artists, and the sponsors. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a large crowd of the public, students, and art researchers visited the exhibition, admired the works and interacted with the artists.

The exhibition is open from September 24 to October 12 at the Hue University of Arts, Hue University.
