Nguyen Du, the renowned poet and esteemed cultural figure, has left an enduring legacy for posterity through numerous timeless literary works, both in Chinese characters and Nom script, including his masterpiece, “The Tale of Kieu.” Nguyen Du's cultural heritage is the crystallization of intellect, spirit, and the cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people, reflecting his exceptional talent. Over time, this heritage has become a part of the world's cultural treasures.

Mr. Tran Xuan Luong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Ha Tinh Province, stated that the commemorative ceremony aimed to honour the significant contributions and literary legacy of Nguyen Du to Vietnamese literature. It presents the deep respect of the officials and people of Ha Tinh towards Nguyen Du's works, particularly the masterpiece “The Tale of Kieu.” Additionally, it contributes to the promotion and education of traditional cultural values for younger generations.

In recognition of Nguyen Du's immense contributions to national culture and the core values of humanity, in 1965, the World Peace Council decided to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the national great poet Nguyen Du, alongside eight other world cultural figures. Nearly 50 years later, in 2013, Nguyen Du was honored by UNESCO General Council along with 107 other cultural figures of humanity.
