| Overview of the conference |
On the morning of December 24th, Vietnam Circular Agriculture Association, in coordination with Que Lam Group, held a conference to review five years (2021 - 2025) of investment in developing organic agriculture and the circular agricultural economy, the Que Lam value chain, and to outline plans for 2026 in the central region.
With the engagement of the entire political system and close coordination between Vietnam Circular Agriculture Association and Que Lam Group, by the end of 2025 more than 500 households and cooperatives nationwide had joined the value chain. Of these, over 330 households are engaged in organic livestock farming, with total herds of more than 30.000 head of livestock and poultry, supplying the market each year with tens of thousands of tonnes of clean, safe organic meat. In crop cultivation, more than 200 households are linked, with a total area of nearly 2.000 hectares of organic rice, fruit trees, and pennywort.
One of the distinguishing features of the livestock models linking farmers with Que Lam Group is a biosafety organic husbandry process that is odor-free, not using bathing water or wash-down systems, making use of by-products, ensuring animal welfare, generating no emissions, and protecting the environment. At the same time, the effective integration of sow and fattening pig production has delivered high economic returns, generating profits of VND 1.2 - 1.5 million per head. Que Lam organic rice production does not use chemical fertilizers or plant protection chemicals, does not burn straw after harvest, and the company purchases all rice from farmers at prices 15% higher than the market.
After more than five years of research, development, and implementation, the Que Lam organic and circular agricultural value chain has proven to be a highly effective economic model, providing sustainable livelihoods for farmers, generating no emissions, and protecting crops, livestock, the ecological environment, and community health. To date, a safety fund for the development of organic and circular agriculture has been established.
At the conference, delegates presented papers on the circular agricultural economy, the 4F initiative, the management of the Que Lam value chain, and the consumption of organic agricultural products, among other topics.
In 2026, many Party and State guidelines and policies on organic agriculture and the circular agricultural economy are expected to continue taking effect in practice, particularly Conclusion No. 219-KT/TW of the Politburo dated November 26, 2025, on continuing the implementation of the Resolution of the Fifth Plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas to 2030, with a vision to 2045. This conclusion clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of the “six stakeholders” in the value chain: the State, enterprises, farmers, scientists, banks, and distributors/consumers. On that basis, organic, circular agriculture and the Que Lam value chain are expected to make further progress, forming organic and circular agricultural economy villages that contribute to green and sustainable economic development.
