The businesses signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperating for product consumption 

The 2025 Conference on Connecting and Promoting the Consumption of Agricultural Products, Specialties, and Handicrafts Products of Quang Dien Commune was organized by Hue City Center for Investment promotion, Trading, and Enterprise Support, in collaboration with Quang Dien Commune on the afternoon of August 16th. The program attracted 20 businesses, cooperatives, and production establishments from Hue City, along with 4 distributors, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms. The event aimed to introduce and promote local products while creating a bridge between producers and the consumer market, contributing to increasing the income of local residents.

The voices of businesses and cooperatives

The conference recorded many heartfelt opinions from businesses, cooperatives, and production establishments. Most agreed that this was an opportunity for agricultural products, specialties, and handicrafts from Quang Dien as well as Hue City to be displayed and introduced more widely. However, the biggest concern for the participants remained the stable market outlets, ensuring that products could reach supermarkets, e-commerce platforms, and a large number of consumers.

Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu, Director of the Quang Phu Agricultural Processing Cooperative expressed: “Cooperatives are very eager to receive connection to improve the introduction and consumption of products. This is still an issue where we face many challenges, and we really need timely support and collaboration”.

Sharing the same concerns, Ms. Ho Thi Khanh Ngoc, Director of Ngoc Phuong Essential Oil Production, Trading, and Services Co., Ltd stated: “Previously, handmade products once had no market and it was only sold in small quantities, leading to inventory build-up. Thanks to the support of local authorities and Hue City Center for Investment Promotion, Trade, and Enterprise Support, the market has gradually stabilized. Currently, the company’s eucalyptus oil products are available in the markets of Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Quang Tri, and Hue. Furthermore, it is also exported to Laos”.

Mr. Nguyen Duc May, Director of Kinh Do Specialty Joint Stock Company emphasized: “Businesses not only need legal foundations for each product, but must also pay special attention to quality, design, and packaging standards. Actively connecting with distributors and local authorities for timely support is essential”.

 Ms. Ho Thi Khanh Ngoc. Director of Ngoc Phuong Essential Oil Production, Trading, and Services Co., Ltd. shared that with the support of the local authorities and Hue City Center for Investment Promotion, Trading, and Enterprise Support, the market has gradually stabilized.

In recent years, as part of the industrial promotion program and agricultural sector restructuring, the locality has leveraged various resources to support production facilities, such as investing in machinery and technology, assisting in brand building, improving product designs and packaging, as well as encouraging the application of advanced technologies. As a result, many products from Quang Dien have gradually established their presence in the market,” said Mr. Nguyen Anh Cau, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Quang Dien Commune People’s Committee.

However, Mr. Cau also candidly acknowledged that the consumption of products is still small-scale and unstable; the issue of “good harvests, low prices” has not been completely resolved; value chain linkages have not been sustainable; and trade promotion activities and supply-demand connections still have been limited. Therefore, this conference focused on addressing 3 key “bottlenecks”, including product promotion, consumption connection, and expanding long-term cooperation.

Mr. Nguyen Le Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of Hue City Center for Investment Promotion, Trading, and Enterprise Support affirmed: In the coming time, the key tasks include supporting production units in meeting market standards, improving product designs, ensuring quality, and ensuring traceability. This is the foundation for enhancing competitive capacity and increasing participation in modern supply chains. At the same time, it is necessary to further promote the role of local authorities in accompanying, connecting, and creating favorable conditions for businesses and cooperatives to develop product brands linked to tourism and services.

In reality, agricultural products, specialties, and handicrafts from Hue in general, and Quang Dien in particular, have already established a presence thanks to their quality and unique identity. However, to maintain and expand the market, in addition to safety and quality, production units need to focus more on branding, packaging, and the product story. This is because today’s consumers are not only purchasing a product but also buying a cultural experience and seeking uniqueness.

Along with that, the trend of green, sustainable, and environmentally friendly consumption is becoming increasingly popular. Eco-friendly packaging, organic products, and models connected with experiential tourism, etc., will be the inevitable direction for Quang Dien and Hue products to establish a solid foothold.
