 At the working session

At the working session, Thua Thien Hue Province and the ADB highly evaluated the effectiveness of projects implemented in the area; they also discussed and agreed on the scales, contents, time, and responsibilities of relevant stakeholders for the projects to be implemented in the coming time.

To facilitate the proposals of the project on "Thua Thien Hue urban development to adapt to climate change", with loan from the ADB, to be approved, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh called on the ADB to provide technical support for the project preparation process along with the necessity and assessment of the project’s effectiveness and issues related to the project finance as well as conditions and criteria for ADB's loans;...

Regarding the technical support project on "Smart digital urban model for urban spatial planning", the province urged the ADB to soon issue a letter of consideration, and continue to commit to funding the project in its next phase.

Regarding the green transportation orientation, currently, Vietnam has not yet had  regulations or policies related to the private sector, which invests in charging stations serving the technical infrastructure for green transportation. At the same time, the province is orienting to develop waterway transportation (E-Boat) on the Huong River to develop tourism, therefore, Thua Thien Hue called on the ADB to consider and support research related to these contents.

Mr. Hoang Hai Minh also hoped that ADB would continue to support the province in researching and determining the scale of coastal protection solutions, so as to develop proposals for the component of protecting against coastal erosion in the coming time.

The ADB-funded projects, which are being implemented in the province, include: the Secondary Green Cities Development Project – Thua Thien Hue Subproject; the Greater Mekong Subregion Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project - phase 2; the technical assistance project on "Smart digital urban model for urban spatial planning" (which is funded by the ADB and the Australian Government); and the technical assistance project on "Supporting and contributing ideas for updating the action plans to respond to climate change in Thua Thien Hue province to implement the national strategy on climate change and green growth in Vietnam", which is funded by the ADB, etc.

Thua Thien Hue is mobilizing capital from the ADB to implement the projects, including: Thua Thien Hue urban development to adapt to climate change, technical support for research activities to determine the scale of coastal protection solutions in Thua Thien Hue Province to develop the proposals for the component of protecting against coastal erosion, and technical support for green transportation research for the province.
