Accordingly, the city’s People’s Committee has issued a decision to announce the opening of the Ngu Ha river inland waterway route, with a total length of 3,5 km. The starting point is downstream of Thanh Long bridge, at the confluence of the Dong Ba river and the Ngu Ha river in Phu Xuan ward; the endpoint is upstream of Thuy Quan railway bridge, at the junction of the Ke Van river and the Ngu Ha river, also in Phu Xuan ward. The route is scheduled to be put into operation starting from April 10th, 2026.
According to representatives of the tourism sector, alongside the announcement of the route, a project to develop tourism using electric boats on the Ngu Ha river and its tributaries is being accelerated, with operations expected to commence around April 30th, 2026.
As planned, in 2026, between 10 and 15 electric boats will be put into operation, designed to suit the heritage setting while ensuring aesthetics and safety. These vessels have completed registration, inspection, and trial operations on the Perfume River and its tributaries.
The project includes three main product groups: transporting visitors after touring the Imperial Citadel to connect with other tourist sites; bringing visitors from outside into the heritage area; and experiential products such as sightseeing, photography, combined with culinary services, and cultural activities on the river. The electric boat model aims toward “green tourism,” reducing emissions in line with sustainable development orientations, while also opening up a new way to approach heritage spaces.
