Lotus Festival to held annually in Hue city

Lotus Festival will be held annually to stimulate tourism

The 2018 Lotus Festival took place at Quoc Hoc Monument from June 29 to July 1 with many activities associated with the spaces, including: “Lotus Beauty”, the venue of “lotus” Ao dai collections’ performance; “Lotus Taste”, the venue where lotus cuisine sold and introduced to the public; “Lotus Colors", the venue of art exhibition on lotus; and “Sen Characteristics”, the venue showing a number of traditional crafts such as Trucchi, lotus art embroidery, and embroidered conical hats, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Tourism, said that the 2018 Lotus Festival was the space to honor the essence of lotus flowers, bring about an "honest, good, and aesthetic" image of the "National Flower of Vietnam", via the creative products made of this material.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, this is the first festival in the plan to organize monthly activities and festivals, aiming to stimulate tourism industry. After the Lotus Festival, the Provincial Department of Tourism will hold festivals of kites, dragon dance, and cuisine, etc. in the following months.

Especially, the Lotus Festival, which is expected to be held annually in June, will become a periodical product; increasing the ability to attract visitors to Hue. This is also a stepping-stone for Hue to become the festival capital of Vietnam in the future.
