Key source markets for visitors to Hue continue to grow

In 2025, thanks to the successful organization of numerous activities under the National Tourism Year, visitor arrivals to Hue were estimated at 6.3 million, up 61.5% year-on-year. Overnight stays reached an estimated 2.41 million, nearly 16% higher than the same period last year, while tourism revenue was estimated at over 13 trillion VND, a rise of over 64% year-on-year.

Notably, key source markets such as France, the United States, Italy, Germany, and Australia continued to record strong and impressive growth. In particular, arrivals from France were estimated to rise by about 35% year-on-year, while the number of visitors from Germany and Australia saw increases of around 32%, and that of the United States and Italy reached about 30%.

In 2026, with expectations of sustaining growth momentum and effectively exploiting advantages in heritage, culture, and urban tourism infrastructure, Hue’s tourism sector aims to welcome around 7-7.5 million visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching approximately 15 trillion VND.

Addressing the conference, Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Khac Toan stressed that 2026 is the first year of implementing the resolution of the new-term City Party Congress and a pivotal year for the acceleration phase of 2026-2030. The city has set a target of double-digit GRDP growth, with tourism expected to assert its role as one of the key driving forces.

At the conference, Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan also urged the tourism sector, localities, and relevant units to focus on several key tasks. These include resolutely and effectively implementing the approved tourism development scheme and action plans; clearly identifying several priority “breakthroughs” for 2026 and the period through 2030. He also called for the early shaping of one to two flagship night-time economy zones linked to Hue Imperial Citadel, the Huong River, and historic streets, alongside efforts to finalize several distinctive tourism products.
