Hue City: Safety ensured for year-end events, conferences and workshops

HNN.VN - Recently, although not many, the number of conferences and events has been organized, offering accommodation establishments a certain source of income. This is seen as a "salvation" for the year-end accommodation establishments.

Opportunity to serve guests

The 22nd Vietnam Film Festival came to a close, leaving a lot of impression on tourists to Hue. Not only were tourists satisfied with the services, tours, and safety factors, but the tour operators in the ancient capital also had a certain joy and excitement because they had the opportunity of serving guests, initially "warming up" activities that have not long been done.

According to Saigon Morin Hotel’s representative, during the last film festival, the hotel served nearly 100 guests staying and some main meals. It has been a long time since April 2021 (prior to the 4th outbreak of the pandemic), the hotel served such a considerable number of guests.

Aside from a number of employees in some divisions, who have long since been retained, the hotel mobilized nearly 50 more employees to serve. Although only working seasonally, at a certain time, everyone was excited after a long time without work related to hotel services.

The end of the year is the time when many conferences, workshops, and closing ceremonies are held. Against the end of 2020, the number of activities taking place this year is not large. According to the statistics by the Provincial Accommodation Association, under the impact of the pandemic, there were not many tourists from provinces to Hue, and the number of conferences and workshops also decreased. On the other hand, more online meetings were organized, so face-to-face meetings were significantly reduced.

That reality is inevitable. However, some hotels were selected to organize a number of conferences, workshops and events in the past time. For example, White Lotus Hotel has just been chosen as the venue for the Workshop on "Dissemination of Law on Enterprises 2020".

Or earlier, in mid-November, this hotel also organized the workshop to kick off the project "Hue – A City to reduce plastic in Central Vietnam". Even earlier, there took place the workshop on "The current situation and solutions for Thua Thien Hue economic recovery and development in the "new normal" associated with COVID-19 pandemic prevention".

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Van, a White Lotus Hotel employee said although not working continuously, only working at times when the hotel had guests, they also had the joy after a long time of being off work. Like many other hotel employees, everyone hopes that tourism soon returns to normal so that the job can be stable again.

In order to ensure the anti-pandemic safety in operation and the safety of tourists and staff, White Lotus Hotel fully implements the anti-pandemic solutions such as QR-Code scanning at the entrance with the organization process ensured in conformity with the "5K" regulation. The hotel ensures the process of disinfection; all the officials and employees received 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine through training courses. The employees quickly tested negative can serve tourists with considerateness and safety.

Safe service organization

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, said that the number of events, conferences and workshops held remains small, so not many hotels exploit this influx of guests by year end. However, in the coming time, with the new synchronous solutions for new adaptation, more activities and events are forecast to be organized.

Mr. Phuc emphasized that the establishments that serve tourists are required to comply with the Official Letter by the Department of Tourism on the implementation of SARS-CoV-2 screening test in the unit. Every week, 10-20% of officers and employees are randomly screened.

This is viewed as a proactive solution to ensure effective containment and control of the spread of the disease. In particular, it is necessary to proactively prevent and soon detect the suspected cases in the community entering hotels.

After the finalization of serving guests to the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival, Saigon Morin Hotel conducted a SARS-CoV-2 screening test in the form of a rapid antigen test for 20 staff (nearly 20% of the total employees currently working). All employees tested negative.

According to the representative of this hotel, the hotel will continue to operate in the new adaptive conditions, so this screening is absolutely vital. This is an activity the hotel will periodically perform twice a week, not just once a week in order to control the spread of pandemic, proactively take preventive measures and make guests secure when they use the hotel service.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Thuy Vy, Director of Muong Thanh Hue Hotel said in order to proactively attract guests, conferences and workshops by end-year, simultaneously to screen the hotel staff by turns, the hotel has just launched the movement "Let's have fun cleaning up the house - Safely welcoming guests - 5S" (5S: screening, arranging, cleaning up, taking care of and being ready).

The hotel carries out the periodical clean-up of public areas and landscape... in order to offer a safe experience and event held at the hotel.

Leader of the Department of Tourism emphasized that during the adaptation period, the risk of pandemic is inevitable and predictable. It is important to have a calm mood and appropriate handling plans in such cases. Concurrently, the coordination between stakeholders in the handling plans is needed. This is also a requirement for tourism activities in the time to come.

Whether by fate or extraordinary circumstance, within just 42 days, one tank company had the honor of participating in the liberation of all three major cities in southern Vietnam: Hue, Da Nang, and Saigon. The tracks of their tanks stretched over a thousand kilometers from A Luoi (Hue) to the Independence Palace, where they smashed through the gates and raised the victorious revolutionary flag atop the building, signaling total victory.
