Welcoming the first flight and visitors to Hue City in 2025

HNN.VN - On the morning of January 1, Hue City Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Central Region Airport Authority at Phu Bai International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, and the Vietnam Airlines branch in Hue, along with Pacific Airlines organized a program to welcome the first flight and visitors to Hue City in 2025. Attending the event was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee.

At 9:15 am on January 1, 2025, over 100 passengers on flight VN6317 from Hanoi to Hue landed at Phu Bai International Airport. This flight was a codeshare between Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines.

The first group of passengers, along with cabin crews were warmly welcomed by city leaders, the Department of Tourism, the Tourism Association, Phu Bai International Airport, the Central Region Airport Authority at Phu Bai International Airport, and representatives from Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines in Hue. They were greeted with flowers and New Year gifts. Notably, four lucky passengers received four domestic round-trip tickets from Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines, along with souvenirs from the Department of Tourism. Other passengers also received gifts, enjoyed a welcoming performance, and received New Year wishes from city leaders and local tourism representatives.

Ms. Silvi Buchenberg, a German tourist, shared: “I am truly surprised and delighted by the warm reception. The welcome program is very interesting. I especially appreciate the friendliness of Hue’s leaders and residents, and the unicorn dance is spectacular”.

This activity marked the start of the New Year 2025, showcasing the hospitality of the people of Hue ancient capital on the first day of the year. It also served as the opening event for the Hue Festival 2025, which aligns with the “Four Season Festival” orientation, and launched a series of tourism events and activities in Hue City for 2025. The celebration also marked Hue’s recognition as a centrally-governed municipality and the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.

Permanent Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh emphasized that 2025 would be a significant year as Hue hosts the National Tourism Year. The city views this as an opportunity to promote Hue's image and develop local tourism. City leaders have directed the Department of Tourism to formulate plans and solutions to diversify products and services, enhance workforce quality and infrastructure, and boost communication, promotion, and tourism marketing to continue attracting and retaining visitors.
