Hue Today Weekly, Issue No. 96, features a special series on investment attraction and the ripple effects created by ‘leading cranes’ (leading investors) on its front page, highlighting the role of investment attraction in achieving the city’s socio-economic development goals. Hue City aims to attract USD 1.2 - 1.4 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the 2026 - 2030 period. Beyond increasing investment capital, the city is targeting projects that apply modern technologies, create jobs, boost production and strengthen links with domestic businesses.

Hue has identified tourism and services as its spearhead economic sector. Under the scenario for developing tourism in line with the double-digit growth target, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set a target for Hue to welcome approximately 2.5 million international visitors in 2026, up 31.5% from 2025. This is both a target and a test of the city’s ability to turn its tourism advantages into revenue, investment opportunities, and ripple effects across other economic sectors.

On October 12, Ta Trach Irrigation Services One-Member Company Limited announced that Ta Trach Reservoir will undergo upgrades to ensure safe operation, with a total investment of approximately VND 445 billion from the state budget.

“Thuan Hoa Ward needs to take the initiative in researching planning options and proposing investments, while also inviting businesses to participate in developing public amenities, services, and tourism. The proposals should link new development investments with urban renovation, and assess the feasibility of implementation during the current term,” emphasized Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People’s Committee.

On the morning of September 25th, Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, chaired a meeting with Sun Group, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group’s Central Vietnam region. Also in attendance were representatives of relevant departments, agencies and local authorities.

With increasingly developed infrastructure, ample land available for development, and a clear focus on attracting high-quality investment, Hue City is opening up new opportunities to welcome both domestic and foreign investors.

On the morning of September 6, as part of the Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum in Hue City, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a dialogue with Japanese businesses.

The Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum 2026 (the Forum) is expected to resolve obstacles, accelerate ODA-funded projects, attract investment, strengthen educational ties, and establish a mechanism for annual cooperation between localities of the two countries, contributing to creating momentum for Hue City’s economic breakthrough and deeper international integration.

On the afternoon of August 19th, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh led a delegation on a field trip to inspect investment and production activities at Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone and Phu Bai Industrial Park. Leaders of relevant departments, agencies, localities and units also joined the delegation.
