Strengthening connections and investment cooperation

Recently, Hue City has welcomed a steady stream of businesses, economic groups, ambassadors and consuls general from South Korea, Denmark, China, Turkey and other countries seeking to learn more about the local investment environment. At the meetings with city leaders, representatives of these countries and businesses expressed their interest in exploring opportunities for cooperation and investment in Hue.

At a meeting with leaders of Hue City People’s Committee on July 8, Mr. Kim Joon, General Director of The Energy Consulting Company of South Korea, said the company was studying potential investment in solar power systems, Alternate Maritime Power (AMP) systems, port energy management and carbon emissions monitoring.

According to the company representative, the proposed investment aims to help reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and move towards a green seaport model in line with the development trends in the international maritime industry. The company also asked the city to provide information on planning and investment incentives, as well as facilitate field surveys at the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone to assess the feasibility of the project.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of Hue City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, said the company’s investment plans were in line with the city’s goals of green growth and sustainable development. The city is committed to creating favorable conditions for the company to access information, conduct site surveys, and study possible forms of cooperation, provided that the project fully complies with current regulations.

The projects proposed by The Energy Consulting are also expected to support the transformation of Chan May Port into a more modern and energy-efficient port with lower emissions, in line with the trend towards green development in logistics and maritime transport.

At an investment promotion meeting between Hue City and Chinese businesses held in late July, Ha Vi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Vietnam, said economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and China had many new opportunities for development. Green growth, the digital economy and cooperation in manufacturing were identified as particularly promising areas.

According to Ambassador Ha Vi, China remains a major trading partner of Vietnam, providing a favorable foundation for localities, including Hue City, to expand practical cooperation with Chinese businesses. Hue’s advantages in regional connectivity and geographical location are among the factors of particular interest to Chinese businesses. These advantages also provide favorable conditions for Chinese companies to build confidence in cooperation and development in the city in the years ahead.

In early August, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Member of Hue City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, also held a meeting with Dang Thi Thu Ha, Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey, and representatives of GOSU Online Corporation. At the meeting, Hue’s potential and advantages in culture, heritage, tourism, technology and cultural industries were introduced to the delegates and businesses. Given the similarities in culture, heritage and tourism, city leaders expressed their hope that localities and businesses in Turkey would strengthen connections, explore opportunities and develop effective investment cooperation in Hue.

Giving priority to suitable projects

Hue City has many advantages that appeal to foreign investors, particularly its transport and strategic infrastructure, which have been planned and developed in a coordinated manner to drive industrial and urban development in the new period. This is an important factor in helping the city become a major connection hub for Central Vietnam and between the north and south of the country. The network of industrial parks and economic zones is also being increasingly well planned and developed, providing land for manufacturing, industrial, logistics and service projects and making the city more attractive to investors.

Another advantage is the city’s continued efforts to streamline administrative procedures, improve services for businesses, actively promote investment, and select projects with high-quality capital and environmentally friendly operations.

Speaking about the city’s approach at meetings with foreign investors, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh said Hue is giving priority to attracting investment in high technology, green industries, cultural industries, processing and manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, services and tourism. The city is also targeting high value-added economic sectors in its industrial parks and the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone. However, rather than pursuing investment numbers, Hue places greater emphasis on carefully selecting projects that fit its long-term development direction.

Vice Chairman Hoang Hai Minh also affirmed that Hue City’s current and future approach to investment attraction is to prioritize projects that do not cause environmental pollution, use land efficiently, and have high investment value while requiring a reasonable amount of land, thereby increasing added value for the local economy.
